Lather, rinse, repeat

I was kind of greatful for the Thanksgiving holiday. It broke up what is generally a pretty routine life. We had people over two days in a row, instead of just on Saturday.  One of them was a new face to see, and we gamed two days instead of just Saturday.   The change kind of threw me off. I kept walking around thinking I was forgetting to do something.  I kept thinking it was the weekend.

Now the weekend is over, and I am back to the lather, rinse, repeat portion of my life. Everything is all the same.  Get up, play around on the computer, go to work. Come home, eat, watch tv, crochet and go to bed. On my days off you can throw in a trip out to some store or another. Usually the gaming store, the half price book store, or the music store.  The days off also give me more time to be on the computer, watch tv and crochet.

I need to try to slip things in. Something to add to the routine, as well as some spontaneous actions here and there. I have a feeling if I don’t this whole lather, rinse, repeat thing is going to make me crazy. I am already having more ‘down’ days than I care to admit.

Sunday Morning Memmage

A friend of mine had a meme on her LJ. Someone gives you a letter and you list ten things you love that start with that letter. I had to ask her for one, and she could not make it easy. She gave me W.

  1. Writing
  2. Wordpress
  3. Wildflowers (especially in Texas)
  4. Warmth (I love to feel all toasty and comfy, big quilts, fuzzy socks)
  5. World Music (I love music from India, Finland, Ireland, and I love finding new world music)
  6. Women (beautiful creatures, and some of the best kissing I ever experienced was done with a girl)
  7. Weimaraners (one of my favorite breed of dog)
  8. Waves (I love the sound of them, and watching them crash on a shore line)
  9. Winter (even though I don’t have it anymore)
  10. WWII  (one of my favorite moments of history to learn about)

If you want to try this, leave me a comment and I will give you a letter.

Hair color, days off and other such fun.

I tried to go without dying my hair. I held out as long as I could. I got so sick of how dull my hair looked. But only on the top of my head, where my real hair color was showing through. In all it’s dull brownish glory.  I considered black, because I miss my black hair. Then I realized how much of a pain in the ass that is to get rid of.  So I found myself the darkest brown I could, and I love how it looks.  Hopefully I can get a picture soon.

I could not wait for my day off, so I could sleep in on our new bed. I was wide awake at 7am. So much for that plan. Now the day off plans include lunch with my boy, various errands, crochet and working on #16 on my list.

Unfinished To Do List

While moving to my now more desky like location, I found a lot of junk in the drawer of the cart/shelf I was using.  One of the things is a wire bound notebook from Target’s dollar spot.  I knew it could not be empty, very few notebooks in my possession are ever really empty.

Inside of this little blue notebook is the start of a list. At the top it says -101 List-.  From the looks of it, this is a list of things I would like to do in my life.  What is really funny is that the list is not finished! I left off at #29.   So here are the first 29, noticed I have already crossed out two!

  1. Visit Houston
  2. Read everything Heinlein published
  3. Go back to the San Antonio Zoo
  4. Start and finish four short stories
  5. See my mom
  6. Submit a story to be published
  7. Meet Chuck Palahniuk
  8. Finish Jade’s Pooh Latchhook
  9. See a Violet Crown Players show
  10. Volunteer for a local theatre
  11. See three local Texas bands
  12. Lose 85 pounds
  13. Own all of Orson Welles’ films
  14. Write a letter to someone famous
  15. See the Alamo
  16. Start a book of poetry
  17. Find an non electric pen pal  (I have two!)
  18. Start my memoirs
  19. Make a cloak
  20. Start a memory book for Jade & I
  21. Have my cards read
  22. Knit a scarf
  23. Own a gothic lolita dress
  24. See The Cruxshadows again

How it feels to want.

I generally do not want expensive things. I don’t have champagne tastes, usually.  With that being said, I want this so bad it makes my stomach ache:

Essential Art House-50 Years of Janus Films.

50 disks, with such films as The Seventh Seal, The Third Man, M, and many more that I love.

There is one issue:  $649.99.

[insert big dramatic sigh here]

That fateful Tuesday

I got out and voted today, it was my first time voting in Texas.  (behind me the boyfriend just said "If you don’t vote you are lame") I will probaly be working when the results come in, so I have to wait to find out what happened when I got home.

I don’t think I have to tell anyone how important voting is, especially voting local. This is your daily life people, this is your tax money, your schools, your way of being, the people who you count on to protect you in your little corner of the world.

 Don’t be lame.

Dangerously Close

There are times when I tend to have a very addictive personality. Sometimes these addictions can be good, and sometimes not so good. In the past few days I have found quite a few things I would be happy to be addicted to.

The first one being the band 30 Seconds to Mars. Lead by the very lovely Jared Leto, who I am convinced is sipping from the same water as Dick Clark.

The second thing is scrumbling. Which is freeform crochet. Crazy yarny works of art. You can see some cool examples at this site.  I started working on a piece tonight, and found it very liberating and fun.

Of course there is the one not so good for me thing.  My boyfriend brought me a sweet from Target the other day, and gave me a Ritter Chocolate bar.   I don’t think I could find the correct words on just how damn good this candy bar is.  The one I had was a relgious experience, and next time I can get one, I am going to try the expresso flavor.

Just Checking In

The trial is finally over. I was ready to make this big long post about the whole thing, and instead of posting it, I tore it up and threw it away.  I just wanted to get it out of my mind. I do pretty well not thinking about the whole process. Of course there are things that trigger the memory of being in the jury room. (like burnt coffee)

So now I am trying to get my life back in order.  Going back to work on a regular basis, having a gaming night with some great out of town friends.  And if I am lucky, I might do some crocheting.

One Angry Girl

I wanted to post here a long time ago, but I have found myself just coming up blank. This past week has totally fried my brain, and rubbed my nerves and emotions pretty raw.

The biggest issue and thing I am dealing with is serving on this jury. Those are very long and tiring days. Two of those days, I had to put in three hours at work after.  I am exhausted. This is my first day off.  The trial is not over yet. I have to show up at the courthouse at 1:30 tomorrow, for what we all hope is the last day.  When this is all over, and I finally get to talk about it I have a lot to say.

The last day I was downtown, I got one of those disposable cameras and took a bunch of around Austin pictures. Someday soon there will be a little photo essay type of thing.

I am still crocheting. Nothing to take a picture of yet, but I am hoping to finish my Longhorns skinny spirit scarf today.  And if I am lucky I will finish one of my two dolls.  I might try to make legwarmers later if I am jonesing for something new to make.

Remember the big girl pants?

Yesterday was the jury selection. I was there from 1:30-6.

And I got chosen.  I am a juror.  My job is a tad displeased.  I found out if there is still three hours left on the shift I was supposed to work, I have to go in after court.  It is going to be a very long week, and I started it off right by getting no sleep last night.
